US Should Refund Ex-Citizens’ Renunciation Fee, Court Told

The federal government should reimburse a group of former U.S. citizens who were required to pay $2,350 each to formally renounce their citizenship, they told a D.C. federal court Wednesday in a proposed class action, calling the fee “exorbitant.”
