A Michigan appellate panel has overturned a trial court that noted it was going against the grain when it found the state’s Uniform Unclaimed Property Act wasn’t clear as to how interest on abandoned property can be paid out, with the appellate judges finding the act was comprehensive enough to supersede the common law idea that “interest follows principal.”
